Mission Statement
In the greatest respect and appreciation for our employees, our community and our environment, our goal is to produce quality food competitively and build a corporate family farm unit, which can capitalize on the opportunities of the future.
The calling to farm started with a dream shared by both Bill and MaryAnne during their courtship in the 1950’s. This energetic dream enabled Bill’s parents, David C & Anna Siemens, to envision their retirement while farming with Bill & MaryAnne and their two daughters over the course of the next 30 years. During those years neighboring land was rented and bought, and community involvement included 4-H leadership roles, agricultural boards and political organizations. In
To mitigate some of the risk of farming, investments were made other businesses. In 1984 Ray Friesen, husband to Bev, joined the farm bringing new energy, initiating the move into seed potatoes, irrigation and other alliances to expand in a farming company in Bagot, Mb. A few years later Paul McDonald, husband to Kelly, also joined the farm aiding in the expansion in potato production, irrigation and diversification into sweet corn and marketing. Ray and Paul went to form a partnership, Spud Bros, to increase land holdings with WJ Siemens Farming Co. Together further investments were made into agricultural related trucking companies, Prairie Gold Transport and Burbank Express.
Today the next generation have joined the farm and taken on leadership roles in operations and administration. It is with the integrity and strength of the team of employees that defines the WJ farming group, essential to continuing the Bill and MaryAnne’s dream more than 60 years ago – To God be the Glory.
